Friday’s Senior

Emily came to our Bozeman studio today from Three Forks High School. We also have a senior coming to us from Helena and last week had a senior from Wisconsin come to us for senior photos. So while we get seniors from Bozeman High and Belgrade High, we also photograph kids from all over the state and the country for that matter.

THIS WEEK’S SENIORS

We’re working hard to get as many seniors into our schedule before school begins next week. But we have filled up all our summer senior session slots and are now booking into September and October. We always only photograph a limited number of seniors each year…50 this year.

We do this so each senior can get individual attention and the special attention they deserve. There are a lot more images and seniors to show than the three below, but here’s a sampling of our recent work.

Kerri + Flavio……August 8, 20009

ceremony venue……………………….Big Sky Chapel

reception venue……………………….MoonLight

flowers………………………………….Botanica

cake…………………………………….Two Sugars

It seems to be the year for rain. Saturday we experienced rain, sunshine, more rain, sleet, more rain and then a rainbow. But through it all Kerry and Flavio had fun and a very beautiful event at Big Sky, Montana. Amazing flowers from Botanica and very festive food and decor at Moon Light Lodge at the top of the mountain.

Client’s Wedding Web Page Idea

Next summer we’re photographing Anni & RJ’s wedding at Chico Hot Springs in Paradise Valley, Montana. Today they sent us their wedding web page using their engagement photos I took this summer. There are lots of wedding web sites out there and many people are on to this idea but I thought it worth mentioning for those who haven’t yet done a wedding web page.

Take a look below at Anni and RJ’s site by clicking on the image.

Class of 2010……….so far

We’ve started photographing the Class of 2010 and have had a lot of very fun senior some through our doors so far. Each with their own style and story.

We’re beginning to reach our limit of photographing only 50 seniors but are still taking reservations for the remaining slots.

Here are a few sample shots from this year’s class.

Image Use

There are so many ways to use the images we make of seniors, kids and families. Here’s one use that one of our clients did in their home’s hallway. Every three months for the first year of their kids lives they had us make an 8×8 black & white image of each. At the end of the year they had a year in their children’s lives represented on the wall in a beautiful display.

Lyndsey + Tyler…..August 1, 2009

venue………..Rockin’ TJ Ranch

flowers……….Bloom

Graced by a day of beautiful sunshine and family and friends, Lyndsey and Tyler were married at the Rockin’ TJ Ranch just outside Bozeman last Saturday. They are a very sweet couple to add to our long list of great couples. To make the circle complete, the wedding planner for the event was one of our brides from two years ago. Jenna has worked as a planner at two of our weddings this year and she has done a great job of keeping things moving and fun for the couple.

Photo Tip #4

Carry a Camera Often & More Than One Image Makes a Story

The other day while waiting for a client to change I sat with their kids while they ate dinner. The kids were so relaxed and happy at the dinner table. I couldn’t resist taking their photos as they ate and competed for my attention. Photos (especially of kids) don’t have to have a theme or be greatly thought out. A lot of times; kids are best photographed as they are: crumbs and all. So have a camera nearby and ready to shoot. The moments are fleeting.

Also, think about combining multiple images to make a fuller statement about your kids. We often suggest this to our clients and I shoot with this idea in mind. A single image is strong but it doesn’t capture the whole person. Displaying many images together adds layers and depth.

Go have fun!
